Nicholas Copernicus Hall

Nicholas Copernicus Hall is where our School of Science, Engineering, and Technology primarily resides. A main feature would be our nursing department where our students can learn within an environment like what they will see in a hospital. A planetarium is located on the second floor, and a greenhouse is next door.

📊 Graphics Technology

The B.S. in Graphics Technology is the only print based program in New England and continues to serve local and regional industries with graduates. This program covers: Digital pre-media, digital printing, color reproduction, digital photography, graphic management information systems, press and post-press operations, as well as science and analytical mathematics, supplemental computer related courses, business and management courses round out the curriculum. All of the courses allow digital media content to be created and shared via computer-based publications, printed materials, interactive formats, as well as emerging digital media technologies.

📌 Manufacturing Engineering Technology

The Manufacturing Engineering Technology program provides graduates with solid knowledge and readily marketable skills in the area of applied engineering. This knowledge and skill will enable them to adapt readily to a wide variety of technical and managerial careers. The Manufacturing Engineering Technology curriculum provides a foundation in sciences complemented by general technical courses in mechanical and manufacturing disciplines, as well as manufacturing-specific technical courses.

🥽 Manufacturing Management

The Manufacturing Management program prepares graduates to take on leadership roles in advanced manufacturing technology management. Program graduates are highly valued in both large and small manufacturing firms where they hold important positions such as technical supervising engineer, tool designer, manufacturing engineer, project engineer, quality engineer, engineering supervisor, technical engineering writer, and tool room supervisor. The program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, & Applied Engineering.

⚙ Mechanical Engineering

The Mechanical Engineering program prepares students to conduct research and to develop, design, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices. Students will become familiar with power-producing machines such as electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines, as well as power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment, and robots used in manufacturing. The program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

⚙ Mechanical Engineering Technology

The Mechanical Engineering Technology is a very broad field. Our program provides relevant industrial experience within the academic environment through laboratory projects, experimentation, classroom lecture, and demonstrations. Students have access to state-of-the-art computer facilities, materials testing, power transmission, fluids, automation, and manufacturing laboratories. Students gain experience with computer software (CAD, CIM, and FEA - all widely used in industry) for incorporation into projects, associated with key manufacturing areas typical of projects carried out in industry. The program places emphasis on mechanical design, component analysis, and product development.

🖥 Networking Information Technology

Focusing on the design and administration of enterprise networks and information systems, the Networking Information Technology major prepares students for the evolving world of Information Technology dealing with Internet technologies and its curriculum covers a wide spectrum including networking theory and technology, server and system administration, information and network security, computer hardware and software, electronics, business management and marketing. The program is accredited by Association of Technology, Management, & Applied Engineering (ATMAE).

The Department of Nursing strives to
prepare holistic, professional nurses to address the evolving health care needs of the populations they serve and provide quality, person-centered care. The curriculum encompasses a liberal arts education, nursing theory, and evidence-based practice facilitating clinical judgment skills and professional accountability in nursing practice.

The Physics & Engineering Physics programs strive to serve the State of Connecticut, the nation, and the world at large. Students are prepared for graduate programs and their careers whether it is in a lab, or in a classroom setting.

🤖 Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Technology

The Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering Technology (RMET) program of study includes hands-on technical ability, comprehension of theory and design, management, and project management.
The RMET Program provides graduates with a strong background in robotics and mechatronics for all areas of manufacturing as well as other industries employing such technologies.

The Department of Biology at Central Connecticut State University helps our students to understand and interpret the living world. We seek to inspire and challenge new generations of scientists through a wide range of rigorous academic programs, many opportunities for hands-on research, and varied extracurricular activities.

⚗ Biomolecular Sciences

In the Biomolecular Sciences (BMS) Department, you will find student-centered classes and a program that will prepare you for careers in biomedical research and health professions. All students engage in research projects with BMS faculty. Student research is a high-impact experience that enhances understanding of molecular biology and provides hands-on experience with in-demand techniques.

🧪 Chemistry and Biochemistry

Our Department offers B.S. Chemistry and B.S. Biochemistry majors, which are professionally accredited by the American Chemical Society. While at Central, you will find a supportive environment; our upper-level courses are small enough to allow regular discussion with faculty and peers, and our Chemistry Club hosts social events, works on community engagement and outreach, and plans trips to national meetings where our students present original research.

📐 Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering program prepares students to successfully complete the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) fundamentals of engineering examination which is the first step toward professional engineering registration. Central students know the fundamental engineering sciences such as statics, dynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanics of materials and have a solid foundation in general civil engineering principles, enabling continued education at advanced levels. The program includes courses in environmental, geotechnical, surveying, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering.

💻 Computer Engineering Technology

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Engineering Technology (CET) program offers students in-depth knowledge and skills with computer-related systems and devices based on the foundation of physics and applied mathematics. This bachelor's degree focuses on providing students with hardware and software skills for design, implementation, integration, and support of systems involving microprocessors, computers, and networks. CET graduates are prepared for positions in computer programming, system software projects, digital logic design, computer interfacing, digital systems design and trouble-shooting, circuit design and troubleshooting, or as computer and network administrators.

🚧 Construction Management

The Construction Management program prepares students for management and supervisory positions in the challenging world of construction. The curriculum focuses on field operations, estimating, and project management processes as they relate to building and heavy/highway construction projects. Analytically based mathematics, science, and civil engineering technology courses along with studies in business and management round out the program. The program is accredited by the American Council for Construction Education.

The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) provides students with a broad and thorough education in Electrical Engineering fundamentals, applications, and design that prepares them to practice as professional electrical engineers with the confidence and skills necessary to meet the technical and social challenges of the future. The degree provides a broad and thorough education in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and engineering coupled with the application of modern engineering tools.

Current teacher shortages in the discipline have prompted many school systems throughout the country to offer financial incentives in a bid to attract qualified Technology & Engineering Education instructors to their systems.

🔈 Technology Management

Bachelor of Science in Technology Management students graduate from the program prepared to work in a variety of technology-oriented supervisory, middle management, and leadership positions. Coursework reflects the increasing industry demand for professionals with a mastery of industrial processes, applied technologies, and managerial skills, from project management, quality control, and marketing to technical writing, best environmental practices, and industrial accounting. Students may elect to pursue a specialty in Technology Management customized to the student's professional interests in consultation with an academic advisor. This program is accredited by the Association of Technology, Management, and Applied Engineering.
