Intercultural and Diversity Center
The Intercultural and Diversity Center is a designated office in the Student Union offering programs and activities that celebrate our community. The IDC supports all students at UB by creating a strong sense of belonging. We celebrate our differences as proudly as we celebrate our commonalities, while helping students broaden their perspectives and gain a deeper understanding of our world.
UB’s IDC provides a welcoming space for students and coordinates educational programs and cultural events to broaden student perspectives and promote inclusion, equity, and social justice. The IDC provides a comfortable place to meet, socialize, study, and interact with professional staff, Diversity Advocates (peer educators), and other students.
The IDC hosts several events throughout the year. Some of these events include UB Pride Week, First Generation College Celebration, Hispanic Heritage Month, World Bazaar, Tough Topics and a Diversity Film Series, to name a few.

When you become a UB student, you join a welcoming, inclusive community that values your experiences. Our students come from 103 countries and 50 states, each of them with unique perspectives that will help shape yours. UB’s community works together to uphold a university-wide culture of diversity, social justice and inclusion that makes all of us stronger, offering many thoughtful opportunities for our Bulls to connect and learn from each other.
UB has a variety of programs that promote our university-wide culture of equity and inclusion including: the Institute for Strategic Enhancement for Education Diversity (iSEED), Destination Dental School (DDS), the Engineering Deans Diversity Initiative, Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, the Leadership Development Program (School of Engineering and Applied Sciences), Diversity Peer Mentoring Program (School of Engineering and Applied Sciences), and the Center for Inclusive Design and Environmental Access (IDEA Center). ⭐ Diversity Advocates
Diversity Advocates are student interns who are committed to promoting diversity, advocacy and social justice at UB. By increasing awareness and knowledge of diversity-related issues, Diversity Advocates create dialogue that explores the definition and perception of diversity.

As a university community, it’s imperative that we explore, understand and respond to racism and systemic inequality. UB has amplified this call through initiatives and programming that are driven by our longstanding commitment to effecting change through education, research and community involvement. More than ever before, UB should serve as a bastion of hope and a community of action compelled by the greater good. ⭐ The Office of Inclusive Excellence
The Office of Inclusive Excellence is responsible for coordinating and monitoring UB’s efforts to build a culture of equity and inclusion.This office promotes equity, diversity and inclusion and efforts to integrate inclusive excellence into all aspects of university operations. The Office of Inclusive Excellence hosts “Let’s Talk about Race,” a series of university-wide lectures, town halls, and other events that foster critical conversations, an Inclusive Excellence Summit and more.
