Childhood Education and Development
The purpose of the Child Development and Education program is to provide accessible, quality educational opportunities that will provide individuals with the knowledge, technical skills, and attitudes necessary to obtain entry-level employment in the childcare professions. This degree program is intended to produce graduates who are prepared for employment as childcare directors or teachers, Head Start teachers or assistants, and teacher’s aides.
Classes are held in Tiered Classroom 116 on Monday and Tuesday from 4 to 6:40 p.m.
A brief course description would be as follows:
The early childhood development program offers courses in the foundation of early childhood education. After completing the program, the students can receive an associate's degree which would allow them to work in the schools as a paraprofessional (teacher's aide) or open their own child care facility. This program focuses on different aspects of child care services and early childhood education. The program helps to prepare an individual to plan, design, and manage child care facilities and programs that meet children's developmental needs and interests.
In regards to what have been some positive outcomes toward introducing your students to local industry upon completing the courses in their chosen field of study, there isn't any input at this time. This is the first semester this program has been offered and classes have made. I do not have anything at this time to use to answer this part of your request.
